Radiance has strong aviation engineering capabilities and supports a number of Program Executive Office - Aviation (PEO Aviation) Program Management Offices with technical and engineering support. We also support the Army’s Aviation and Missile Center (AvMC), Systems Readiness Directorate who is the Army’s delegated airworthiness authority. We perform aeromechanics and aerodynamics analysis of both fixed wing and rotorcraft platforms – both manned and unmanned. We perform computational aeromechanics and evaluate mass properties, perform vibration analysis, test aerodynamic attributes, and flight controls among other areas. We have subject matter expertise in rotor design and perform technical evaluations for onboard radars. We support the systems’ safety of operations and perform airworthiness qualification analysis. We investigate a great number of flight test data at the system and subsystem level and provide engineering support for new design activities.
Our Systems Engineering capabilities fully align with the standard DoD acquisition life cycle as described in DoDI 5000.02 and is tailorable to all ACAT levels. Our robust core Systems Engineering processes and practices reflect a rigorous adherence to industry best Systems Engineering V models and are tailorable to the specific needs of our customers.
Our mechanical engineering capability specializes in rapid prototyping of hardware solutions utilizing both traditional and advanced technologies. Our team designs for both cost efficiency and manufacturability while also creating innovative solutions that tackle the ever-changing challenges faced by the military. We design using various manufacturing methods (milling to sheet metal to 3D printing) and materials (aluminum to carbon fiber to invar), and we analyze our designs to ensure requirements are met. Our engineers are heavily involved in the assembly and integration process, gaining firsthand knowledge of what works and what can be improved.
Radiance personnel have been performing Software Independent Validation & Verification (SIV&V) since 1979. Major Radiance SIV&V processes include: Post Deployment Software Support (PDSS) Transition Readiness Review; Simulation and Model Verification, Validation, & Accreditation (VV&A); Independent Software Safety Assessment, Physical and Functional Software Configuration Audits (PCAs and FCAs); SIL or HWIL Lab Transition or Duplication; Independent Tool and Tool Prototype Development, Independent Program Metrics Tracking and Reporting; Verification of Code Port to New Processor; Verification of Software Translation/Conversion; and Independent Static and Dynamic Software Analysis.
The foundation of our highly successful technical approach is the Scrum Framework. Our development teams have in-depth knowledge of and currently use an Agile methodology consisting of the Scrum, Lean, and Extreme Programming frameworks multiple Radiance projects. We have a proven/established methodology for managing and delivering large-scale, complex projects efficiently and effectively.
Radiance has been designing Kubernetes-based applications for the National Air and Space Intelligence Center (NASIC) for the past few years and is considered by our customer to be a trailblazer in this space, as we were the first to successfully build and operate such software. Our engineers continue to find new ways to design and build ever more scalable and agile software applications in Kubernetes, and we are currently working to demonstrate more secure and maintainable applications for a growing diversity of customers across NASIC.
The Radiance Software Factory provides best practices and a standardized tooling for development collaboration, documentation, management, testing, and automated deployment.
Radiance’s DevSecOps allows for faster and more secure delivery of software through security practices and automated deployment of software systems.
Our Cloud Migration efforts move data, applications, and other business components from legacy on-premise systems to a scalable, flexible, secure, and cost-efficient infrastructure.
